Project Description
EAFF engaged the services of Centafrique Consulting to conduct a comprehensive study aimed at identifying and documenting financing models suitable for youth and women farmers in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. The assignment involved gathering data on funding opportunities from various institutions and analyzing viable financing mechanisms tailored to the needs of young people and women in agribusiness. The study documented at least two financing models from different service providers and identified key experts in relevant thematic areas.
Centafrique Consulting also evaluated the agricultural budget incentives for 2019 and 2020 to assess their impact on youth and women’s participation in the sector. The firm examined the expertise and support services offered by profiled institutions, including mentorship, incubation, and business development training.
Additionally, the study analyzed the business and policy environment to identify both enabling and restrictive factors affecting financial access for youth and women. It also documented the agribusiness registration process, highlighting applicable tax obligations, regulatory requirements, and associated costs, and assessed their impact on the involvement of women and youth in agribusiness.
