Project Description
Jesuit Hakimani Centre commissioned Centafrique Consulting to carry out a study on the allocation and use of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) in Kenya. The objective was to provide an in-depth assessment of Kenya’s SDR situation to inform evidence-based policy advocacy at both national and international levels.
As part of this assignment, data was collected and analyzed data on the allocation, use, and impact of SDRs in Kenya. The study also involved reviewing the national SDR framework and identifying key trends, gaps, and opportunities. In addition, relevant stakeholders were engaged to gather insights and perspectives on SDR utilization and future needs. Additionally, the project involved targeted research to inform advocacy on Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). This included reviewing Kenya’s current SDR allocation, tracking expenditure, and assessing awareness of SDRs and International Development Assistance (IDA) among faith-based institutions. The team also tracked SDR allocations and sectoral spending priorities in key social areas such as education, health, nutrition, social protection, and COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
Centafrique Consulting produced a detailed analysis that highlighted critical issues and provided actionable recommendations to enhance transparency, efficiency, and impact in the use of SDRs. The final report served as a tool for strategic engagement with policymakers and international partners to advocate for a more equitable and impactful allocation of SDRs to Kenya.
