Project Description
EAFF engaged the services of Centafrique Consulting to conduct a desk study aimed at identifying priority focus areas for mitigating the impact of natural and health disasters on agricultural enterprises, particularly those supported through EAFF’s programmes and projects. The study focused on strategies youth-owned SMEs are adopting to cope with crisis situations, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and reviewed government interventions that either support or hinder SME resilience.
The project included a survey assessing the impact of COVID-19 on input and output markets for youth-owned agro-enterprises in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. Based on the findings, the team developed four policy briefs—one for each country—highlighting key challenges and policy recommendations.
